Qualifications:
- Loads, transports, and unloads construction supplies such as sand, flexbase, asphalt, gravel, and other materials from City stockpiles or suppliers to City sites in order to fulfill construction or maintenance projects.
- Equipment used in this job includes rubber-tired backhoes, track-mounted excavators and loaders, maintainers and bobcats, street sweepers, and compactors as well as cranes, front-end loaders and front-end loaders.
- Mechanical maintenance and repairs are performed on construction equipment on a regular basis by field mechanics to maintain its long-term viability.
- The maintenance facility must be kept clean, orderly, and safe on a daily basis. Every time you use it, carefully clean it. Make a thorough inspection of all equipment and alert the Equipment Technician if any issues are discovered.
- Utilize hand and power tools, construction and maintenance machinery, and tools for hammering with care. Manual work such as mowing, repairing, and snow shoveling are all examples of what you’ll be doing.
- Execute all equipment operator duties and responsibilities. Keep detailed records of all machine operations, maintenance, and gas use.
- Communicates with both internal and external clients, such as cooperators, landowners, the general public, and fire departments. Understands and performs safe work procedures Collaborates with others as a team member.
- Maintains compliance with all applicable safety rules and regulations while operating a truck and trailer rig to move earth moving or other medium to large sized automotive equipment to a work location.
- Heavy equipment is operated in accordance with the company’s operational safety regulations and procedures. Routine equipment inspections and preventive maintenance are performed; accurate records are kept.
- Material movement equipment is used to transport and position raw materials and finished components. Standard operating procedures should be followed while maintaining and operating a vehicle.
Skills:
- Must have a minimum of six months of experience as an Equipment Operator I or one year of experience in golf course operations or a comparable role. Education in turfgrass management or a related discipline may substitute for the required job experience.
- Education at the high school level or its equal in terms of both experience and a general equivalency diploma (GED), Experience in mechanical assembly, operating a forklift, and/or operating comparable machine equipment for a period of two years, Required to possess a Driver’s License in Good Standing.
- Communication skills that are second to none; able to be open and honest while still being fair and inclusive to all parties involved Maintaining and operating power-driven machinery and systems
