The Forester will assist with a variety of forestry-related tasks and will directly contribute to the achievement of the Clean Water/Healthy Habitat Initiative, Strategic Climate Action Plan, Forest Plan, and Parks Open Space Plan objectives.

Qualifications:
- Responsible for ensuring that the quality, amount, and kind of plant materials utilized are appropriate and that suitable processes are followed to protect existing and install new plants..
- Assisting with general forestry requirements such as early-rotation and mid-rotation chores, contract administration, and/or other jobs as assigned.
- Consults with other site plan review staff (stormwater, zoning, and transportation) to ensure that the code requirements of other disciplines are adhered to without clashing with the tree and landscape code requirements.
- Assistance with all aspects of silviculture, forest management, and harvest monitoring on company-owned and private-owned properties is required.
- The applicant is notified in writing of the reasons for denial after reviewing the application’s factors. Assign and participate in site clearing inspections to ensure that the plans submitted are compliant with municipal codes and ordinances before they are implemented. To guarantee that the information included in submitted plans is valid, coordinate with lower level inspectors about site inspections.
- Assess the status of county-managed forestland and contribute to the development of forest stewardship plans that will guide future restoration and management efforts in the future. Field data collection and analysis are part of the process of determining the health of a forest stand. Work with personnel and contractors to use the Forest Landscape Assessment Tool (FLAT) to all recently acquired and freshly acquired forestland parcels in order to evaluate their conditions.
- As part of the Streets Division, this person takes care of the trees in the city and teaches other Streets Division workers how to do the job right.
- Responsible for silviculture plan implementation, field-verification of treatment candidates, and provision of setting-specific recon information to management, as well as contract negotiation, silviculture operation supervision, timely status updates for system activity updates, and monitoring of contract performance including safety, SFI, EMP, production, cost and quality. Silviculture processing is also included.

Skills:
- a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and six months of work experience in landscaping, forestry, or nursery operations and six months of work experience conducting tree and landscape inspections..
- Microsoft Office skills, including Excel and Word fluency, are essential, as as strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Inspecting and diagnosing pathological plant conditions; determining the reparability of diseased and physically damaged trees; reviewing landscaping plans and coming to sound conclusions about their acceptance or rejection; strictly enforcing codes, ordinances, and regulations; instructing others in tree and landscaping inspections; creating and maintaining procedures for tree and landscaping inspections..
- Planting, pruning, disease inspection, and disease elimination all need extensive knowledge of tree care. include a good knowledge of the different tree-care techniques.
