Job Description
A cook is a skilled professional who has worked in a professional kitchen and is capable of preparing a wide range of menu items. If the on-duty Chef or Sous Chefs are unavailable, this job serves as the lead cook at each site and may perform basic supervisory duties. A cook is responsible for ensuring that delicious cuisine is prepared for visitor restaurants, staff dining rooms, and catered special occasions. Qualifications:
- Produce high-quality hot and cold meals as directed by the Executive Chef.
- According to the facility menu, the Cook prepares and serves food, including texture adjusted and therapeutic diets.
- This person tastes goods, reviews menus, estimates food requirements, verifies production, and keeps records in order to effectively plan production requirements and request supplies and equipment.
- Meets company demands by adhering to scheduling requirements, which include nights, weekends, and holidays.
- A cook is responsible for the set-up, food preparation, organization, sanitation, and production of food and beverage items, as well as the closing and storage of each work station.
- The Cook must be organized, well-dressed, and professional. He or she must also be a team player who works well with others.
- In the absence of the Head Chef or Sous Chef, has overall responsibility for the kitchen’s safety and efficiency.
- You must be able to lift up to 20 pounds, push/pull up to 40 pounds, and carry up to 30 pounds while standing and walking.
- Assist with the operation of cleaning equipment and dishwashing machines as needed to ensure the cleanliness of all kitchen spaces, tools, and utensils.
- Arranges and cleans all kitchen spaces, such as storage shelves, passageways, workstations, walk-ins, refrigerators, and coolers.
Skills:
- Ability to prioritize projects and work with a wide range of supervisors.
- A year of cooking experience in a high-volume, fast-paced kitchen is required.
- A high school graduation or its equivalent is required, with a culinary degree preferred.
- All HACCP policies and procedures are followed.
- If you are 18 years old or older, you must be able to pass a background check, which may include, but is not limited to, credit, criminal, DMV, past employment, education, and personal references, as per Company policy, unless federal, state, or provincial legislation prohibits it.
