Job Description

In addition to providing support to researchers through electronic means and in the reading room, the Curator is responsible for producing manuscript collections, University record groups, and born-digital assets. An Archives and Special Collections (ASC) department and library policy maker, this individual serves as a resource and advisor to the ASC staff and the organization as a whole. People in this position are expected to represent the library at public events, and they will be involved in outreach efforts.

  • Using proactive communication and collaboration, build and keep good working relationships with other city departments, outside suppliers, and educational institutions.
  • Help the museum system keep up its efforts to be diverse, equitable, accessible, and inclusive with its programs, staff, and public interactions by meeting the cognitive, physical, and social/emotional needs of a wide range of people.
  • Retains abreast of modern historical literature and interpretative best practices, stays abreast of cutting-edge research and new historical arguments, and looks for chances to incorporate current historical knowledge into programming.
  • Project management, research, exhibition and loan coordination, as well as ensuring projects are finished on schedule and under budget are the responsibilities of this position.

  • Aid with the volunteer program of the museum system, particularly in the areas of recruitment and placement of volunteers in appropriate positions, as well as ensuring that volunteers get enough training.
  • Agreements with repositories and gift deeds are negotiated. Assesses gifts and purchases, manages loan agreements, and ensures that stated regulations are followed.
  • Develop and publish peer-reviewed articles based on independent technical study into the history of computers, including its design, technological advancements, cultural importance, and historical significance.
  • Through phone conversations, online correspondence, and in-person visits, the general public may be reached. This position requires basic reference interviewing and demonstrates understanding of procedures. In a timely and effective way, this individual ensures that accuracy and completeness are satisfied In accordance with departmental policy, interactions are recorded in the database.
  • Be a part of everything that happens on a daily basis in the collection management department. Antiques, artwork, and records are all cared for by the museum, which is a nonprofit organization.


  • Four years of experience that supplied knowledge similar to that generally obtained by successfully completing a four-year term of study in museum work or a related subject matter area.
  • Good command of the English language, ability to speak in front of a group, and familiarity with museum best practices are all prerequisites for this position.
  • Individual and team duties must be balanced; the capacity to deliver and accept criticism; the ability to instill morale and group commitment to goals and objectives; and the ability to support everyone’s efforts to achieve must be shown.
