Qualifications:
- Assists in the creation of planning improvement and the modification of projected goals in accordance with the results of statistical data collection and statistical research and comparison.
- Do research and prepare reports on land use concerns. With the help of communities and stakeholders, they are also responsible for leading these activities.
- Office supplies, software, and processes that are commonplace in today’s business workplaces are used.
- Create a daily delivery strategy employing equipment, labour, and other resources to satisfy client expectations.
- Internal agencies and developers must be able to understand complicated information easily and properly.
- Planners oversee zoning and landscape architecture in their district. This role recommends and implements procedural changes to the city’s zoning plan approval process or urban planning strategy (i.e amendments to the plans, site plans, drawings, and reports, etc).
- Ensures the establishment of programs for the collection and analysis of data on economic, social, and physical aspects impacting land use, as well as the preparation of graphic and narrative reports based on the information gathered from the data.
- Support the development and maintenance of the Comprehensive Plan by providing assistance in planning and implementing the plan’s chapters, updates, status reports, as well as other associated tasks.
- People who do this job make a lot of different materials and reports for public hearings and other meetings as well as for the board to show them. As part of their job, this person gives presentations and detailed reports on new development proposals to the City Council as well as to other groups, like the Planning Commission, the Architectural Design Review Board, and the public.
- It is the responsibility of the Development Applications Specialist to obtain and process development applications, which may include evaluation of site plans, subdivision requests, conditional use permits, and other land development proposals; to ensure that applications are in compliance with the Urban Development Code and Comprehensive Plan.
Skills:
- What you need to know about communities and how they work together: current and emerging trends in land use regulations, real estate development laws, land use and land use planning; the legal foundation and techniques used to write land use regulations, real estate and land use planning; and how to make a comprehensive map of a community.
- Capable of resolving difficulties and making sound judgments; thinks swiftly and logically; maintains composure in stressful conditions.
- The ability to apply concepts and methods of urban planning and redevelopment at the highest level of professionalism, as well as hands-on experience in doing so
- It is necessary to be able to rapidly take up on new knowledge and establish a thorough understanding of local zoning laws, regulations, and ordinances in order to succeed in this position.
- At least a bachelor’s degree in Urban or Environmental Design or Regional Planning, and six (6) years of professional experience in municipal planning and Zoning with at least two (2) years in a supervising capacity are required for this position
