Job Description

Using python, C, C++, bash shell, or another language relevant to the task, an Engineering Technician will write test execution and analysis code and scripts. These scripts/codes will run tests, collect test artefacts, process test artefacts to decide pass/fail, and save the results in a stack. Work on the stack will be done to consume and visualize the data, as well as report Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). They’ll be able to work independently, document and present results, and troubleshoot problems.

Qualifications:

  • Keeps and updates both electronic and paper records of daily department activities; maintains full project records and design/drawing files for assigned projects; and, if required, database files.
  • Responds to and repairs equipment malfunctions. Troubleshooting (when necessary). Among other things, it replaces worn or damaged parts, motors, and control systems.
  • A team of engineers and operational data are used to support the County’s infrastructure. for construction projects and for design assignments, staking out design components in the field and performing field surveys roads are repaired or resurfaced depending on an evaluation of their existing condition; controls a variety of fiefdoms by inspecting building sites to ensure the plans and project standards are being adhered to.
  • Preliminary determinations on technical compliance concerns have been established for a range of residential and commercial designs, permits, reports and studies. For code compliance, we collaborate with independent architects and engineers to solve issues, document the project’s specifics, and offer adjustments that will help us remain in the ballpark should things go awry.
  • Prepares project contract documents and all required permitting; develops construction specifications and reviews contractor specifications for compliance with established rules and regulations; organizes bid proposals and calculates cost estimates; reviews materials, labor, and equipment costs to ensure accuracy; and provides technical guidance for construction as needed.
  • When a project’s specifications call for a certain set of ratios or volumes to be calculated, a project’s cost estimates are provided as well as the ability to verify third-party contractor computations.
  • In addition to preparing written legal descriptions of property and compiling information on grant, permit, and environmental regulations compliance; interpreting maps and plats and creating and/or updating various maps using CAD; compiling information on grant, permit, and environmental regulations compliance;
  • Using GPS, GIS, and CADD software, prepares plans, professional engineering drawings, specifications, details, maps, plats, and other displays for engineering projects, as well as contributing to the design of larger, more complicated public infrastructure projects.
  • Meeting with design consultants and writing emails and bulk mailings to discuss the project are part of engineering customer service. In addition, it entails responding to construction inquiries as well as community issues and complaints. Organizing public outreach is also a part of it.

Skills:

  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer system engineering, or a similar engineering degree is required.
  • Prior to their appointment, all candidates who have been provisionally accepted for VA employment in a testing specified job must undergo a urine screening for the detection of illicit drug use. Candidates who refuse to take the exam will be rejected by the VA.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, organizational, and communication abilities are required.
  • As a sub-professional in surveying, drawing, or civil engineering, you must have a bachelor’s degree and at least three years’ experience.
  • Roadway design software and computer processes must be understood on a practical level. The internet, spreadsheets (including Microsoft Excel), word processors (including Microsoft Word), state road and bridge software, and other applications as necessary or requested are all examples of computer-related items that may be used.
