Qualifications:
- Prepares plans, skilled engineering drawings, specifications, details, maps, plats, and other displays for engineering projects using GPS, GIS, and CADD software; and collaborates with engineers and other personnel to assist in the creation of solutions for resolving City infrastructure issues using GPS, GIS, and CADD software.
- Assisting with the collection and interpretation of data on grants, permits, and environmental rules as well as providing written legal descriptions of property CAD map creation or revision; The act of compiling information on government grants, permits, and environmental rules.
- Reviews a variety of residential and commercial plans, plats, permits, reports, and studies for ordinance and building standard compliance; examines designs and provides preliminary conclusions on technical compliance issues. Working with third-party architects and engineers to resolve issues and offer code compliance direction; reviewing and assessing the impact of the planned project; and recommending approval and/or corrective steps to fix deviations or violations.
- Engineers and operational data are collected, studied, and analyzed in support of the County’s infrastructure. staking out design components in the field for building projects and conducting field and topographical surveys for design assignments repairs or resurfaces roads based on an assessment of their current state; inspects construction sites to ensure that the plans and project standards are being followed; manages a number of fiefs

- In addition to completing the requirements of the project at hand, this position also does calculations for third-party contractors and evaluates their calculations using a thorough knowledge of engineering principles and methods.
- Responds to and repairs equipment malfunctions. Troubleshooting (when necessary). Among other things, it replaces worn or damaged parts, motors, and control systems.
- All necessary permits and contract documents are prepared; construction specifications are developed and reviewed for compliance with established rules and regulations; bid proposals are organized and cost estimates are calculated; materials, labor, and equipment costs are reviewed for accuracy; and technical construction guidance is provided as necessary.
- Engineering customer service includes meeting with design consultants and drafting letters and mass mailings explaining the project. It also includes responding to construction enquiries as well as citizen concerns and complaints. It also involves organizing outreach to the general public.
- Handles electronic and paper records of daily department activity; maintains complete project records and design/drawing files for assigned projects; and updates database files as needed.
Skills:
- For this role, you’ll need at least three years of surveying, drawing, or sub-professional civil engineering work experience; or the comparable combination of education and experience.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills are an absolute must.
- A bachelor’s degree in a related subject of study, or an equivalent engineering degree, is required for this job.
- Prior to their appointment, all candidates who have been provisionally accepted for VA employment in a testing specified job must undergo a urine screening for the detection of illicit drug use. Candidates who refuse to take the exam will be rejected by the VA.
- As part of roadway design, one must be well-versed in computer hardware and software. As needed or required, utilizes computer-related applications such as AutoCAD Civil 3D and Trimble, the internet, spreadsheets (including Microsoft Excel), and word processors (including Microsoft Word).
