Job Description
Subordinate to the Operations Administrator, the City Planner is responsible for enforcing the Zoning Ordinance and City Codes. Supervisory and professional administrative work is performed by employees in this class. the City and County’s Zoning Code. Performs related responsibilities as required.

Qualifications:
- An urban planner oversees zoning and other aspects of city planning. They suggest and execute any modifications in the city’s zoning plan review process or urban planning programme, as well as any procedural changes they propose and implement (i.e amendments to the plans, site plans, drawings, and reports, etc).
- Internal agencies and programmers may benefit from your ability to effectively, clearly, and correctly communicate complicated information, both orally and in writing.
- Receives, checks for completion, and processes development applications, which may include site plans, subdivision requests, conditional use permits, and other land development proposals; ensures they meet the Urban Development Code and City’s Comprehensive Plan, and that they are in line with the city’s rules.
- Data-driven graphics and narrative reports based on quantitative and qualitative analysis of economic, social, and physical aspects of land use are the responsibility of this position.
- Coordination, presentation, writing, editing and processing of plan chapters and modifications, status reports and other tasks connected to designing and maintaining the Comprehensive Plan.
- In order to ensure a successful and efficient operation and to meet or surpass customers’ expectations, develop a daily delivery plan that makes use of available equipment, labour, and other resources.
- Documents for public hearings, meetings, and board presentations are prepared by this person. The City Council, Planning Commissions, Architectural Design Review Boards, and the general public are provided with comprehensive reports on all construction projects.
- Operating a range of office equipment, software, and operations that are typical to the contemporary commercial office with ease.
- An expert in land use, physical, social, and economic concerns conducts research and produces reports. He or she also leads community and stakeholder engagement activities.
- As data and research accumulate, this individual may assist in the formulation of improvement strategies and the formulation of new objectives.
Skills:
- Capable of problem solving and making sound judgments; thinks swiftly and logically; maintains composure in stressful conditions.
- At least a bachelor’s degree in Urban or Environmental Design or Regional Planning, and six (6) years of professional experience in municipal planning and Zoning with at least two (2) years in a supervising capacity are required for this position
- When it comes to municipal zoning laws, regulations, and ordinances, the ability to absorb new knowledge rapidly is essential.
- At the professional level, understanding and practical knowledge with the principles and methods of urban planning and redevelopment are essential skills.
- The physical, social, and economic features of a community, as well as how they operate together, are critical. This involves an understanding of the most current and emerging trends in site and urban design. Understanding the legal basis and methodologies used to draught land use rules, real estate and development legislation are also part of this job.
