Job Description

The department’s yearly budget is supported by the department’s budget manager. Among other things, this entails working with assigned stakeholders to prepare yearly budget requests, implementing budget actions in the Department’s financial system and reporting on budget and expenditures. Working on budget schedules, formulating decision items, and responding to data and information requests from external stakeholders are all part of this position’s responsibilities. All allocated work areas and budget procedures and systems will be improved as a result of this position’s role in adopting public sector best practices.

Qualifications:

  • For a short-term or long-term assignment, the incumbent must integrate into a department operating team and build rapport, as well as establish analytical criteria to consistently and efficiently evaluate performance. It is essential to be able to establish and stick to deadlines.
  • This position’s key tasks include budget research and analysis, as well as resource forecasts.
  • Income and spending patterns are analyzed using a projected budget and budgeted amounts, as well as identifying potential revenue and expenditure management issues and recommending modifications to the plan.
  • When it comes to making decisions about everything from resource allocation to the quality of the services they get, customers and employees are constantly engaged.
  • On all topics relevant to departmental budgetary operations, serve as a liaison between the department and the VP&S Office of Budget. Assist the Departmental Administrator with the finalization of the budget narrative.
  • According on this person’s analysis of data from multiple departments, they then recommend how much money each department should be allocated for their respective projects.
  • Assumes extra responsibilities and duties that are not explicitly stated in the job description, but which fit within the broad occupational category and responsibility level generally associated with the employee’s class of work
  • Support the operational and financial requirements of the assigned divisions, as well as grant processing, by coordinating with the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) and the Office of Finance (OF).
  • Accurately respond to enquiries from both internal and external sources on allocated program areas, collaborating with stakeholders as needed to achieve timely responses.
  • It is in responsible of managing the City’s annual budget planning and review process, as well as the development and implementation of budget standards, regulations, and calendars. It also releases the City’s final approved budget.

Skills:

  • Working arrangements that are flexible, whether at home, on the road, or in a regular office.
  • Aptitude for and familiarity with massive datasets, integrated software solutions, and business intelligence tools.
  • Expertise in large-scale public sector finance and budget management including project planning, resource allocation, and annual financial reporting.
  • It is also necessary to have four (4) years of professional management experience in budget and grant preparation/administration to be eligible for this position.
  • Outstanding organizational and interpersonal skills, strong communication and writing talents, multitasking ability, self-motivated, and team player. Knowledge of computers, graphics, desktop, and Internet applications is required.
