Full-Time Lifeguard – East London
Job Description
In order to keep swimmers and spectators safe, lifeguards must educate and encourage safe leisure habits and attitudes, as well as enforcing safety legislation and responding effectively to crises. The ability to work both alone and as part of a bigger team is essential. This job requires an ability to communicate with the public in a courteous and pleasant way in a variety of situations. Lifeguards may be required for special events, evenings, weekends, or split shifts.

Qualifications:
- Adheres to all pool-specific safety rules and procedures and ensures that these safe work practices and procedures, as well as established policies, rules, and regulations, are followed.
- Observes and enforces all Club safety standards and guidelines on the use of the pool area by members and visitors.
- The pool deck, break room, bathrooms, and drains should be kept clean.
- Keep an eye out for any violations of the pool’s rules or laws that could put their health and safety at risk.
- Provides exceptional customer service by responding to member and visitor enquiries in a polite way, giving information within the scope of the assignment, and addressing complaints in an effective and timely manner.
- Help maintain a range of accident reports by reading, writing, interpreting, and communicating in English in order to carry out the job’s obligations.
- Keeping an eye on the water’s chemistry is essential for the proper maintenance of the pool, its deck, pool house, and gutters.
- To provide aquatic services for the club, such as offering swim lessons, supervising group swim activities, and aiding with other aquatic program activities.
- Getting the pool and surrounding area ready for the summer includes a variety of chores, including cleaning the water, washing the decks, rearranging the pool furniture and lifeguard equipment, and scrubbing the bathhouse, fence, and flower beds.
- They perform responsibilities such as accident prevention and water safety services in addition to lifeguard duties.
Skills:
- They must learn CPR, lifeguarding, and community first aid through the American Red Cross at this time.
- Before a lifeguard can be hired, they must have worked as one for at least three months.
- Ability to work with children and adults with disabilities.
- A high school diploma or GED is required for employment in this profession.
- Capable of creating and sustaining strong working relationships with employees, departments, and members of the general public.
