Job Description

A key responsibility of the Payroll Analyst is to ensure that the monthly payroll is processed on schedule, including all benefit and deduction actions. Analysis and processing of nonresident aliens using Glacier tax software. Assist with different payroll reconciliations and year-end tax processing and reporting; engage in software upgrades and training; back up payroll manager while he/she is away.

Qualifications:

  • To guarantee optimum system performance, communicate with business users to gather and clarify business requirements, transform requirements into system functionality, and provide suggestions for doing so.
  • Find out if any changes need to be made to move employees into and out of different pay plans when transfers, promotions, demotions, full-time or part-time changes, and other status changes are entered into the system.
  • Responsible for the organization’s biweekly payroll runs, including initiating, monitoring, processing, and auditing. Before going on to the next phase in the processing, set up each task, audit the outcomes, and examine the mistakes to identify remedial action and balance.
  • Follow up with staff to verify accurate, policy-compliant data. Determine whether changes are needed and make them to ensure report/system compliance.
  • Payroll for all District workers must be prepared and generated, including deductions for taxes, social security, unemployment insurance, and retirement. Maintain up-to-date records for all employees of the District regarding taxes, benefits, organization dues, credit unions, and other deductions as approved. Calculate and process any levies or other modifications that may be necessary.
  • Technical and confidential activities linked to the processing and administration of employee payroll; maintain a wide range of complicated accounting records related to salary payments or deductions are required of this position.
  • Accurately balancing the District’s payroll expenses with the District’s annual budget, maintaining a thorough control sheet for each payroll period, and adhering to federal, state, and local laws and regulations are just a few of the duties of this position.
  • Research and respond to client needs, including those of the state and federal government. Prepare ADHOC reports including accurate data. Before releasing to internal/external customers (excluding EDD, IRS, suppliers, auditors, CSMC management, etc.), evaluate transactions, fix errors, and provide relevant remarks and/or recommendations as required. Run month-end, quarterly, and year-end closing payroll reports.
  • Contract salary, benefits An employee’s termination eforms and excess pay eforms are only two of the many HR responsibilities that need to be handled directly by HR staff members.
  • Communicate with clients, resolve challenges, conflicts, and discrepancies, and provide technical knowledge concerning associated transactions, records, laws, rules, policies, and procedures.

Skills:

  • Prior experience with time-reporting systems and procedures is highly recommended. A familiarity with union contracts is a plus, but is not required. Exceptional ability to express ideas clearly and persuasively both orally and in writing, as well as strong interpersonal and customer service abilities.
  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting or business, or a comparable combination of education and experience, is required.
  • Workday experience in an analytical capacity for a minimum of two to four years; knowledge of the following Workday modules is preferable but not required: In the field of Human Capital Management (HCM), topics like as payroll, benefits, wages, bonuses, and other kinds of payment are often discussed.
  • Understanding of payroll processes from time capture to final payroll tax payments Experience of automated payroll systems is necessary, with SAP knowledge highly desired.
  • Level 2 requires three years of relevant experience, while Level 3 requires five years of relevant experience, including garnishment processing.
