Qualifications:

  • Directly collaborate with HR staff on monthly payroll operations such as contract pay, BenefitFocus processing, termination lump sum payments, employee termination eforms, additional pay eforms, and overpayment/underpayment analysis and resolution.
  • Interact with business users to acquire and clarify business requirements, then transform them into system functionality using best practices and offering suggestions.
  • Processing and editing W-2 forms according to federal and state regulations; assisting in the creation of salary and benefit cost projections for budget development and collective bargaining; maintaining accurate balances of payroll expenditures for reconciliation with the District’s budget; and maintaining a detailed control sheet for each payroll period.
  • This role coordinates the company’s biweekly payroll. Create tasks, evaluate results, and solve any errors before moving on to the next stage.
  • Respond to questions, resolve problems, and inconsistencies in payroll matters; give technical knowledge about connected transactions, records, rules and regulations, policies or processes; and serve as a technical resource to District workers as well as others.
  • Employee status changes are recorded in the system to determine if adjustments are necessary when employees are moved, promoted, degraded, or become full-time or part-time.
  • Investigate and respond to state and federal government requests. Correct ADHOC reports. Run month-end, quarterly, and year-end closing payroll reports; review transactions, resolve irregularities, and offer pertinent remarks and/or comments as required.
  • Check with the personnel to ensure that the data is accurate and complies with the policy and procedure. Find out whether there is a need for adjustments, and then put those changes into effect, so that the reports and systems are consistent.
  • You are responsible for preparing and generating payroll for all District workers, including withholding for taxes, social security, unemployment insurance, and retirement. Keep the personnel records for the whole district up to date, including those pertaining to taxes, benefits, organization dues, credit unions, and any other deductions that have been permitted. Perform the necessary computations and processing for levies, as well as any additional modifications.
  • Participated in a wide range of tasks related to processing and managing employee pay, such as keeping complicated and private accounting and bookkeeping records.

Skills:

  • Time capturing and final payroll tax payments are part of a whole payroll processing cycle. Automated payroll systems are a must, and experience with SAP is preferred.
  • It is desired that applicants have knowledge of time-reporting systems and processes, It is desirable if you have experience dealing with negotiating unit union contracts. Excellent communication abilities both verbally and in writing, as well as strong interpersonal and customer service abilities.
  • 2-4 years of experience using Workday in an analytical role; experience with any of the following Workday modules is highly desired: HCM, payroll, benefits, pay, skills, hiring, and learning.
  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting or business, or a comparable combination of education and experience, is required.
  • Level 2 needs three or more years, whereas Level 3 requires five or more years of recent, growing experience in relevant analytic and reporting tasks, including garnishment processing.
