Qualifications:
- Implement a Plan of Care, keep patients accountable for consistency, and alter the schedule and plan as needed to meet the needs of the patient.
- By preventing impairments, functional limits, and disabilities, you can avoid the development, symptoms, and progression of impairments, functional limitations, and disabilities that can emerge as a result of diseases, disorders, conditions, or injuries.
- Perform initial and ongoing physical therapy evaluations in accordance with state regulations and the American Physical Therapy Association’s (APTA) professional practice standards.
- When it comes to mobility and health, it’s important to restore, maintain, and encourage not only optimal physical function but also ideal wellness, fitness, and quality of life.
- The therapist interacts with a physician and other practitioners to gather more patient information, make treatment program revisions, and integrate physical therapy with other areas of the patient’s health care.
- Non-manual exercises, ambulatory functional activities, daily-living tasks, and the use of assistive and supportive equipment such as crutches, canes, and prostheses are all taught, stimulated, and aided to the patient.
- Understands multiple payer payments and allocates therapy resources efficiently based on resident goals and outcomes in connection to discharge destination.
- Tests a patient’s strength, motor development, sensory perception, functional capabilities, and respiratory and circulatory efficiency, and records the results in order to build or amend treatment programs.
- As appropriate, provide guidance and interact with the client’s family and/or other caregivers in order to assist the client in achieving mutually agreed-upon goals and a discharge plan.
- Provide information and training to patients in order to lessen the need for drugs and to offer surgical alternatives.
Skills:
- It is ideal to have knowledge and experience in rehabilitation, Orthopedics, and medical/surgical settings that demonstrate achievement of the requisite job knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- It is necessary to have at least one year of experience working in a skilled nursing facility, hospital, or inpatient/outpatient setting.
- Empathy, compassion, and the ability to encourage patients to test their limits in a responsible, safe, and constructive manner are all important qualities.
- The applicant should have a strong sense of leadership and a desire to learn and enhance his skills on a constant basis.
- A physical therapy degree from an APTA-approved program is required.
