Job Description
Within our wider Finance department, the Junior Accountant post focuses mainly on cash management, T&E, and fixed asset tasks. We have enormous daily cash management obligations because we are a multi-national company with multi-currency accounts. The Junior Accountant is in charge of handling daily cash and associated tasks for all banking accounts, as well as conducting ongoing comprehensive reviews of employee T&E submissions and procedures and maintaining correct fixed asset reporting. This role will need a high degree of accountability, cooperation, problem-solving, and detail-oriented work. The Junior Accountant must be able to operate independently while maintaining a high level of accuracy and efficiency.

Qualifications:
- This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements by studying current and proposed laws, ensuring regulatory compliance, and advising management on essential decisions.
- Examine contracts to ensure that revenue reporting follows both contract and technical revenue recognition guidelines.
- Client relationships should be built and kept up well.
- Can communicate clearly and effectively in English; knowledge of another language is an asset (Spanish or French preferred)
- Assist with accounting difficulties as they emerge and address concerns with a solutions-oriented mindset.
- Ensures accurate interest calculations and compliance with partnership agreements and/or management directions by creating and maintaining a number of inter-company schedules. Accurately gathers and documents the relevant data (e.g. terms and accounts).
- Providing support for the development of tax packages for corporations and investment entities, including debt sections, for submission to the tax department.
- Depreciation schedules and journal entries are created and updated according to company standards (e.g. consistent application of accounts and depreciable lives).
- With regularity, the junior accountant should help with cash posting, which involves recording electronic transfers and daily cash receipts, as well as obtaining the necessary back-up documentation (e.g. distribution account, supporting emails)
- By maintaining the secrecy of financial information, it helps to build confidence and protect operations.
Skills:
- A bachelor’s or associate’s degree in accounting or finance is required (equivalent experience considered)
- Has excellent analytical skills, is a natural mathematician, and has a keen eye for detail. Has worked with accounting software such as Great Plains ERP systems.
- One year of experience in bookkeeping or a comparable accounting or finance function is required.
- Excel knowledge is necessary.
- Ability to function effectively under pressure, manage several competing goals, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
