Job Description
Within our wider Finance group, the Junior Accountant’s responsibilities include cash management, T&E, and fixed asset management. We have considerable daily cash management requirements because we are a multi-national firm with multi-currency accounts. The Junior Accountant is in charge of handling daily cash and associated tasks for all banking accounts, as well as conducting ongoing comprehensive reviews of employee T&E submissions and procedures and ensuring correct fixed asset reporting. This role requires a high degree of accountability, cooperation, problem-solving skills, and meticulous attention to detail. The Junior Accountant must be able to operate independently while maintaining a high level of accuracy and deadliness.

Qualifications:
- Examines current and future legislation, enforces compliance, and advises management on necessary steps in order to comply with federal, state, and municipal financial legal obligations.
- Depreciation schedules and journal entries are prepared and updated in accordance with business regulations (e.g. consistent application of accounts and depreciable lives).
- Cash receipts are used to record electronic wires and book transfers, and cash receipts are also used to gather all the necessary back-up documents (e.g. distribution calculation, supporting emails).
- By not giving out financial information, it builds trust and protects operations.
- Examine contracts to ensure that revenue reporting follows both contract and technical revenue recognition guidelines.
- Companies and investment entities, including debt sections, are assisted in developing tax packages for submission to the tax department by this employee.
- Intercompany schedules are created and maintained to ensure accurate interest calculations and compliance with partnership agreements and management guidelines. Ascertains that the appropriate information is found and recorded (e.g. terms and accounts).
- Assist in establishing and maintaining strong customer connections.
- Has excellent oral and written communication abilities in English; knowledge of a second language is beneficial (French or Spanish preferred)
- Accounting issues should be approached from a problem-solving perspective rather than a problem-focused one.
Skills:
- In a fast-paced setting, the capacity to perform well under pressure, manage several conflicting goals, and fulfil deadlines.
- One year of experience in bookkeeping or a comparable accounting or financial job is required.
- Has excellent analytical skills, is a natural mathematician, and has a keen eye for detail. Has worked with accounting software such as Great Plains ERP systems.
- MS Excel proficiency is required.
- The candidate must have a bachelor’s or associate’s degree in accounting or finance (equivalent experience considered)
