Qualifications:
- Translates and edits translations completed by other District workers. Contributes to the training of District personnel and consultants who provide translation services to schools.
- Translates talks between parents and teachers about the academic development of their children, disciplinary concerns, medical emergencies, and other delicate matters.
- Translates education-related papers such as forms, urgent notifications to parents, notices of medical concerns, legal and confidential matters, handbooks, advisories, surveys, school newsletters, and other District resources.
- When translating medical and technical terms, the translator thoroughly studies and analyses them in both the source language and the target language to ensure that they are understood and translated correctly.
- Textual materials like flyer, social media posts and district-wide announcements/press releases may be accurately translated into any language.
- It’s often possible to include geopolitical, regional, ethnic, and cultural components in a piece of prose. Choice of words and expression normally comply to target language standards and ways of expression particular to topic fields and are strong enough to enable translator to work consecutively in this area.
- Open and sort mail; create purchase order requisitions; verify and prepare invoice and stipend for payment; answer phone calls, welcome visitors, answer general inquiries; prepare purchase orders; prepare invoice and stipend for payment
- Ensure that translations are thorough and correct, with no modifications or omissions to the original language, meaning, or sentiment and purpose.
- Worker assessment results, hours spent, training status, and other relevant data are stored in databases.
- Make the most of your research time and effort. In order to generate textual translations and goods, one needs have a basic grasp of Microsoft Office and the Internet.
Skills:
- Engaging and encouraging communication skills when communicating with supervisors, employees, students, and others in order to communicate information.
- Capabilities to communicate in a specified language at a level beyond that of a casual conversation, enabling constituents with limited English language proficiency to participate fully in the process under consideration.
- Having a valid driver’s license and being prepared to interpret in school and community settings while driving one’s own car are required.
- In addition to a bachelor’s degree in translation or a foreign language, a candidate must exhibit a capacity to communicate effectively in written and oral form.
- The ability to communicate fluently in two languages at the native speaker level and an awareness of the cultural context in which those languages are spoken are essential.
